Tens of Thousands Dead Bees Canada

A museum in Canada conducted an investigation, Friday (11 / 2) local time, about the cause of the sudden death of 20 thousand bees to their collection.

"All of our 20 thousand bees die within 48 hours," said Royal Ontario Museum curator Amanda Fruci. Bees nest was placed in a glass room, to be viewed by visitors.

According Fruci, the museum is still not sure why they were domesticated bee colonies suddenly collapse syndrome. Therefore, the syndrome that usually befall the bees that leave the nest and never returned.

"In this case, they die in the nest itself," said Fruci which states under normal circumstances, bee colonies are losing 5% of the population. If exposed to collapse or colony collapse syndrome disorder (CDD), can be up to 90% dead.

The mystery of mass death bee populations are also reported in the colonies in Europe, Japan and some other parts of the earth, in recent years. A number of agricultural crops are threatened, especially those that depend on bees for pollination.

Royal Ontario Museum Party rule out the possibility that the cause of death was the fault treatment or starvation on the bees. However, some possible causes are low ventilation, or nest parasites are less warm.

Mass death of bees are often said to be a doomsday ecology. This is due to the many plants that depend on this honey-producing animals for pollination. Even so, the case this time happened to the bees museum collections.
